Position Description: 

 Title
Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant – Urologic Oncology The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) works as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team who will contribute to excellence in program administration, patient care, patient safety, research, quality improvement, and teaching. The Department of Urology is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to support the Urologic Oncology services in a blended environment of inpatient and outpatient located north of Milwaukee, Wisconsin at Froedtert Menomonee Falls Hospital, and the Froedtert West Bend Hospital. This position will focus on Urologic Oncology and will be based in Menomonee Falls and West Bend. The APP’s primary responsibilities will include an independent ambulatory practice at the cancer clinics at the listed hospital locations, support for the ambulatory practice of urologic oncologist in the community, and as a bedside surgical assistant for robotic surgeries at those hospital locations. The ambulatory practice will include seeing post-surgical patients and long-term follow-up patients, as well as minor urologic procedures.

Primary Function/Responsibility 

Collaborates with interdisciplinary health care teams in diagnosis and treatment of conditions requiring Urologic intervention in a blended inpatient and outpatient environment as a member of the Department of Urology

  • Evaluates quality outcomes for the patients receiving care of this team through participation in the development of quality indicators and outcomes dashboard.
  • Facilitates and communicates with patient, family, and staff to promote continuity of care across the continuum of care.
  • Independent ambulatory practice assisting in the outpatient care of patients within the Urologic Oncology subspecialty
  • Some general urology clinic staffing including minor procedures.
  • Core Responsibilities 

     · Performs comprehensive histories and physical exams, identifies normal and abnormal findings, including physical, cognitive, and psychosocial status. 

    · Order, perform, and interpret screening and diagnostic procedures and tests, and appropriately communicates and documents information 

    · Develops pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical treatment plans.

     · Monitors effectiveness of plan of care. 

    · Educates patients on disease and treatment plans. 

    · Performs procedures as trained and appropriately credentialed. 

    · Documents within the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and completes other necessary documents. 

    · Collaborates and/or consults with physicians and other health care providers as appropriate.

     · Educates, counsels, and assists patients and families regarding current health problems, health maintenance activities and preventive behaviors. 

    · Acquires information on the most current development and trends in the Physician Assistant field and/or Nurse Practitioner field, through educational programs, in-services, professional associates, and current literature.

    Preferred Schedule: M-F Standard core business hours.  

     Minimum Education: 

    Advanced Practice Nurse: Master’s Degree or higher in Nursing 

    Physician Assistant: Master's Degree or higher in Physician Assistant Studies

    Studies Minimum Requirements: 

    Advanced Practice Nurse Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner

     Wisconsin RN License 

    Wisconsin Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber License

     Acute Care or Adult Care preferred; Family NP considered 

    AHA ACLS, AHA BLS, DEA 

    Physician Assistant 

    Wisconsin Physician Assistant License 

    Certification by NCCPA AHA ACLS, AHA BLS, DEA

    Preferred Experience: 

    Three years of experience in Urology or other surgical specialty. One year OR experience preffered
